Broadband Phone Service and VoIP

One can easily get confused when one thinks that Voice over Internet Protocol or VoIP is the same as broadband phone service even though broadband does use VoIP for sending and receiving phone calls. In essence, broadband phone service is not the typical computer software based forms that communicate from one PC to another or communicate between PC and a phone. True broadband phone service uses dedicated hardware connected directly to a cable modem or DSL line.
