Capella University may see a decrease in applicants due to complaints and allegations.
A complaint was filed against Capella University, with the United States Department of Education on allegations that the university has failed to provide adequate accommodations to students with disabilities. Allegations were made that the school violated Title II of the American’s with Disabilities Act and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973. Then, another complaint was filed against Capella University on allegations of harassment, intimidation, and retaliation in regard to the initial complaint. This complaint alleges more violations of the two previously mentioned Acts, as well as violations of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and First Amendment Violations. While these are only alleged violations, which do not implicate the university in any wrongdoing, this may discourage students from applying to the university.
